Free Computer and Internet Safety Seminar for Parents to be held in Swampscott on July 26th

Swampscott, MA – Stadtlander Designs, a Swampscott based technical support and multimedia production company will be holding a free seminar for parents of the North Shore children on Thursday, July 26th, 2007. Registration opens Tuesday, June 26, 2007 for the seminar which will feature speakers from the Swampscott, Marblehead and Nahant Police Departments as well as the Massachusetts State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The primary focus of the seminar will be on the safety of children using computers and the Internet; educating parents on what children do on the internet and how to monitor and talk to children about their cyberspace activities. Viruses, Spyware and Computer Zombies will be discussed as well as strategies on how to prevent them.
Discussion Points (includes but may not be limited to):

• Computer usage in the home
• Viruses and Spyware
• Protecting your children
• How to know good from bad on computers
• Privacy of information
• Websites (Such as FaceBook, MySpace, YouTube, etc.)

The seminar is registration based but is free to attend. There will be a comprehensive Q&A session at the end of the seminar to answer parent’s questions and concerns.
